Welcome to the Music Player App ("the App", "we", "our", or "us"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address
• Username
• Authentication credentials (managed securely via Supabase Auth)

2.2 Music Activity Data

To provide personalised features, we collect information about how you use the App:

• Songs you like or save
• Playlists you create, including their names and privacy settings
• Songs added to playlists and their ordering
• Artists you follow
• Songs you have played or skipped (used for recommendations)
• Recently played songs

2.3 Content Data

The App displays music catalogue content including artist names, song titles, album artwork, and audio files. This content is provided by the App and is not generated from your personal data.

2.4 Technical Data

We may automatically collect certain technical information, including:

• Device type and operating system version
• App version
• General usage logs for debugging and performance monitoring

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

• Providing the Service: To operate your account, display your playlists, liked songs, and followed artists.
• Personalisation: To generate music recommendations based on your listening history and preferences.
• Search: To enable you to search for songs, artists, and public playlists within the App.
• Security: To protect your account and enforce Row Level Security (RLS) policies that ensure you can only access your own private data.
• App Improvement: To understand how the App is used and improve its features and performance.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a PostgreSQL-based backend platform. We implement Row Level Security (RLS) policies on all user-specific tables, ensuring that each user can only access their own data. Specifically:

• Private playlists are visible only to you.
• Liked songs and followed artists are accessible only by your account.
• Listening history (plays, skips, recently played) is private to your account.

All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. While we take commercially reasonable measures to protect your information, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.

5. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share data only in the following limited circumstances:

• Service Providers: With trusted third-party service providers (such as Supabase) who assist in operating the App, subject to confidentiality agreements.
• Legal Requirements: If required by law, regulation, or valid legal process.
• Public Playlists: If you choose to make a playlist public, its name and songs will be visible to other users of the App.

6. Your Choices and Controls

6.1 Playlist Privacy

You control whether each playlist is public or private. Private playlists are never visible to other users. You can change a playlist's privacy setting at any time.

6.2 Liked Songs and Followed Artists

You can unlike a song or unfollow an artist at any time from within the App. Doing so removes the record from your account immediately.

6.3 Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by submitting a Data Deletion Request or by contacting us at the email address listed in Section 10. Upon receipt of a verified deletion request, we will permanently delete your account data within 30 days.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately and we will take steps to delete it.

8. Third-Party Services

The App uses Supabase as its backend infrastructure. Supabase's privacy practices are governed by their own Privacy Policy, available at supabase.com/privacy. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the Effective Date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
